Unintended consequences. Yeah, that’s something the internet has been producing for quite a while. There were probably a lot of naive people who thought it’d be a reliable source of scientific information for the public but didn’t count on all the quacks, denialists, and time cube nuts having a forum and even organizing themselves more effectively.
Google puts up prompts on searches now– when I start typing it gives a few choices as to how I might finish the search request.
I wonder if this feature doesn’t skew the results.
I can see the day when Google sells the prompts to organizations so that the organizations can use the # of searches as evidence for the need for some political action.
Maybe I’m getting a bit overly cynical lately.
