“A bunch of angry smiling people were handing out these anti-evolution flyers.” Before there was the TV show Futurama, there was The Simpsons. Sprung forth from the same genius mind of Matt Groening, the man responsible for re-defining comedy, sarcasm, and satire for an entire generation (my generation), Futurama is the perfect blend of science, [...] So, I’m assuming that you’ve seen that Cameron and Comfort are planning to distribute copies of “The Origin of Species” with their 50-page introduction saying how evolution is all mumbo-jumbo. I’ve heard countless references to various findings that are in support of evolution, whether they be fossil finds (with and without predictions), lab experiments, and [...] Texas has been a battleground for the conflict between science and creationism. It is one of the few states that drives the textbook industry, which makes it a prime target for those with an agenda to influence public education. Today I received the following e-mail from the Texas Citizens for Science – a fine group [...] Creationism, for me, has always been the prototypical pseudoscience. It is a textbook of logical fallacies, misinformation, distortion of fact, half-truths, and outright deception. Creationists, however, are not very imaginative and tend to recycle the same old arguments over and over. It is rare that I come across a new ridiculous argument from a creationist. [...] Reading the blogs at the Discovery Institute is always an educational experience. I’ve made it a point to regularly visit their “Evolution News & Views” blog.
