Since lithium is already approved as a treatment for other conditions, shouldn't safety and dosing information already be well known? Is this a case where a physician can take advantage of using an off label prescription?

Lithium has been in neuro science for ten years and just know Italy creates a study. How about Sanofi making their own drug better? We get new and improved products all the time. They should finally see that for the buck no one has gotten enough bang. What happens to those that can not take Rilutek?
U.S. Rilutek $1000.00 per month, U.K. Free.?

How close to a toxic dose were they in the trial? Was it a case of using as much as they could without causing toxicity?

Since the outcome was not being dead, I would think the lack of blinding would not be a huge issue in this trial.

"But unless this is done carefully it is easy to cause more harm to patients."

I watched my mother suffer for 5 years with ALS; I can't imagine anything doing more harm.
